Why Does The Simply Smarter System Work?

Simply Smarter was built on 40 years of clinical practice in brain development techniques. It’s a targeted system rooted in proven practice that adapts to how we learn, through visual and auditory exercises. These powerful tools allow you to exercise your brain with online activities that take just minutes each day.

Works With The Brain

We primarily learn through what we see and hear, and our brains have the ability to grow and develop with the right amount of stimulation.

  • Start with a personal assessment to begin training at your level.
  • Visual and auditory exercises build a baseline for processing information.
  • Exercises progress in complexity as you improve, challenging your brain to continue growing and developing.

Builds Memory, Builds Brain Power

The Simply Smarter system uses progressions to train your short-term and working memory. Together they form the basis for processing and storing information in the brain.

  • Exercises challenge you to remember and manipulate increasingly complex information.
  • The system adapts as you improve, delivering new challenges to grow your memory.
  • Your online dashboard tells you how your brain’s processing power has improved over time, and assigns your next challenge.

Grounded in Experience

Simply Smarter is based on 40 years of clinical practice, utilizing scientific methods that have been proven in tens of thousands of individuals. Powered by the National Association of Child Development (NACD) as a tool for clients, the Simply Smarter system has evolved from one-on-one activities used by parents and clinicians, to a basic computer program, to a highly sophisticated online brain training tool now available for everyone.

The Science of Memory

Learning starts with short-term memory. The brain takes in information and processes as much as it can with short-term, then interprets and manipulates it using working memory. These two types of memory rely on each other — your brain can only interpret as much information in the working memory as you can retain in the short-term.

The Simply Smarter system assesses your short-term memory with basic number progression exercises. How many numbers in a row can you remember and repeat? What about repeating a series of numerals backwards? These exercises determine your current level of working memory, and the system delivers a baseline score followed by regular updates as you progress.

Your working memory is a huge determining factor in your intelligence; in fact, it may be a better indicator of academic and life successes than your IQ score. Working memory reflects your ability to learn, communicate, solve problems, and think critically, among other skills. Simply Smarter challenges and develops your working memory with exercises that increase in complexity.

About Simply Smarter

Simply Smarter was created by the NACD as a tool for clients working to develop their brain function. Founded in 1979 by Robert J. Doman, Jr., the NACD has created a neurodevelopmental approach to improving developmental, educational, neurological problems and abilities. In short, the NACD works with families and individuals to overcome their challenges by retraining and building new foundations for learning in the brain.

As part of the NACD’s work, Doman and his team developed brain training exercises that fit within a larger program, personalized for each client. These exercises started out as one-on-one activities that children completed with parents and clinicians. The exercises were edited and changed based on what spurred the best results. Later, the exercises were combined into a computer program, then updated to online software. The NACD team saw real improvements in cognition (both for their pediatric clients and others) so they decided to offer Simply Smarter to the world.

Real Results for Every Brain

Simply Smarter delivers personalized exercises that build a strong foundation for learning. Whether you’re a parent, student, or professional, Simply Smarter can help increase your ability to focus by processing, retaining and analyzing information.

One of my daughters is naturally very bright. But in 3rd or 4th grade, we noticed that she was not able to appropriately deal with challenges. If she didn’t know an answer or if she had any challenge learning something, she would burst into tears. This embarrassed her and frustrated us. Our NACD evaluator assessed her processing to be low and gave us a personal program that included lots of processing activities. When her processing improved, we saw a correlated improvement with her coping and academic skills. She is now graduating from high school with high grades and a strong recommendation from her employer.

I like the new Simply Smarter. I like how I can earn badges and I like how I can see my scores compared to other kids my age. I also like how I can change the design of how it looks. I like how I can beat my mom on some of the activitie

Since we started doing the processing exercises consistently, Andrew is more assertive as far as doing something without being told and engaging in conversation. He is able to express his thoughts much better and the conversation is not always about him. He is also showing that he is thinking before making a decision and is able to make wiser choices. We are so thankful for the NACD and their help in our lives!!

We cannot say enough as to how much the Simply Smarter system has enriched our girl’s lives. The daily exercises that they perform on this program has improved their retention beyond what we had expected. They know all of their math facts without any issue and their memory of our studies in history, science and literature is just amazing! They are remembering pertinent information from these studies from over a year ago.

Our family has seen firsthand how developing a child’s processing can greatly improve the child’s quality of life and all those around them.
